Why thismatters

Nigeria needs about 3.6 million tonnes of fish a year and has a gap of more than 2.2 million tonnes. Fish farming is the growth engine, and catfish and its hybrids are about 80% of what is farmed. A government hatchery in Calabar alone is built to produce 20 million fingerlings and 12 million juveniles a year. Every one of those fish is counted before it leaves.
