Privacy notice

What Fincount collects, why, who sees it and how long we keep it. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

01

What we collect

For staff: name, phone number and email address. For your organisation: its name, type, sites, and the people and roles in it. For fish: videos, photos, counts, sizes, weights, batches, sales, buyers' names and phone numbers, and the records you enter. Location is optional.

On the try page: the file you upload and the size group you pick.

02

Why we collect it

To run Fincount for you: to count, to keep your records, to issue and check certificates, to send messages you ask for, and to keep the service secure. With your written agreement, to train Fincount AI. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

03

Who sees it

Your own team, according to their roles. A buyer who scans a certificate sees the certificate as issued, without phone numbers or prices. A feed company sees a farm's data only while the farm agrees. Fincount staff see your data only when they need to, for example to review a count or help with a problem. Amazon Web Services stores and processes the data for us as our processor.

04

Where it is kept

In the AWS Africa (Cape Town) Region, run by Amazon Web Services. Product data is stored there. When some data is processed outside Africa, for example to train models on consented, face blurred frames, we record the legal basis for the transfer.

05

How long we keep it

Raw videos are deleted after a set period unless you agreed to training use or the video belongs to an open dispute. Files uploaded on the try page are deleted after 24 hours and never used for training. Certificates and their fingerprints are kept for a long period so that buyers can keep checking them. The data processing terms give the periods.

06

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and to withdraw any agreement you gave, including training use. Write to us and we will answer within the time the law requires.

07

If something goes wrong

If your data is exposed, we tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within 72 hours.
