Security and privacy
Your videos are yours. Here is how we look after them.
Fincount holds the pictures of your fish and the records of your sales. This page says in plain words who can see them, what we keep, and what we do to protect them.
Ownership
Who ownswhat.
You own your videos and records
Each hatchery, farm and company owns what it films and records. Fincount handles it on your instructions, as the data processing terms say.
Training is opt in, in writing
We use your videos to train Fincount AI only if you say yes in writing. If you withdraw, we stop using them and remove them from the next training set.
A feed company sees a farm only with consent
A feed company sees a farm's data only while that farm's sharing agreement is active. The farm can withdraw at any time.
Only what is needed
For staff we keep a name and a phone number. For the organisation we keep its details and its fish data. Location is optional.
Protection
What we doto protect it.
- 01
Videos are kept in Amazon S3 with no public access. Uploads and downloads use short lived links for one file.
- 02
Your data is stored in the AWS Africa (Cape Town) Region.
- 03
Every video has a fingerprint, so a changed video shows.
- 04
Certificates are signed with a key held in AWS KMS. The key never leaves it, and any change to a count breaks the signature.
- 05
Owners and managers sign in through Amazon Cognito with a one time code. Every request is checked against the organisation and role of the person asking, so one organisation cannot see another's data.
- 06
Sign ins, role changes, certificate changes, consent changes and data exports are written to an audit log.
- 07
Connections use encryption. Secrets are kept in AWS Secrets Manager, not in code.
- 08
On the phone, models are checked before use, videos are kept in the app's private storage, and signing out clears cached data.
Privacy
What you canexpect.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Amazon Web Services is the processor that stores your data on our behalf, in the AWS Africa (Cape Town) Region, and the privacy notice names it. Faces are kept out of footage by the Capture Guide, and any face found in a training video is blurred before anyone labels it.
Raw videos are deleted after a set period unless you agreed to training use or the video belongs to an open dispute. Files uploaded on the try page are deleted after 24 hours. If something goes wrong with your data, we tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within 72 hours. The check certificate page shows no phone numbers and no prices.
